Are you looking to get out of the house for an afternoon and spend your time surrounded by good food, good music, great people, and fun activities? If so, you need to come out to the First Annual Folklore Sol Fest. Taking place in Folklore Boone, North Carolina on Saturday, September 14, this is a great way to say goodbye to the summer and say hello to the fall. With fun-filled activities scheduled, this is an activity for the full family, so get yourself ready for this first-of-its-kind event.

More About The Event – Folklore Sol Fest

The First Annual Folklore Sol Fest is set to take place on Saturday, September 14, beginning at 11 a.m. The city of Folklore Boone is teaming up with Appalachian State University to bring awareness to a life of sustainability while showcasing all kinds of ways you can incorporate these elements into your everyday life.

You might be completely surprised as to not only what you can do to improve your household’s sustainability, but also how much fun you can have doing it.

The event will take place at 2208 US Highway 421 North Street 1 in North Carolina and will last until 7 p.m.

Demonstrations At The Folklore Sol Fest

There will be a number of demonstrations taking place throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Each of these demonstrations will help illustrate how you can live a sustainable life and how you might want to bring some of these elements into how you go about your day.

First, there will be a solar and human-powered cooking demonstration. This is a great way to learn how to cook harnessing either the power of the sun or how you can generate energy on your own to cook food. Leaning these lessons not only is fun for the entire family but it is a great way to cut down on energy consumption and save money as well (plus you’ll be able to use many of these techniques during your next camping trip).

There will be beekeeping and gardening demonstrations. You don’t need to have a green thumb to take part. You’ll learn how to improve your garden, all without relying on harmful pesticides that do more harm than good. Plus, if you’ve been interested in getting into beekeeping and harvesting your own honey, this demonstration will be extremely beneficial.

Many of the demonstrations will also have goods for sale, so if you want to pick up some material and head right home to begin setting up your own beekeeping equipment you’ll have the opportunity to do so.

There will also be healing arts demonstrations and activities, so if you’ve been interested in alternative medicine and how to improve the vitality of your body using what the earth has to offer this will be an important demonstration to take in.

Vendors And Performers

There will be a number of local artists and performers on hand, so if you want to take a break from the demonstrations and kick back with some food from one of the local food trucks, you’ll be able to.

Some of the local and regional performers you’ll be able to check out include Noelle Austin, All Star Cabin Jam Band, Mason Jar Confessions, Matt Parker, and Rastacoustic (more acts may be announced the closer it comes to the festival).

There will be events designed specifically for children during the Folklore Sol Fest. Your children will be able to take part in face painting, they will be able to make their own bird feeder, craft seed bombs, have fun with bubbles, and learn about henna (while also having it applied). Of course, you are more than welcome to join in on these fun activities. After all, the activities might be designed for children, but it really is a great activity for all ages.

Tarpestry will also be on hand to showcase beautiful tarps that not only are durable and great for camping or music festivals, but the tarps are really works of art as well. You’ve never seen weather and waterproof tarps like these before, so make sure to check out the display while visiting the festival.

Tickets

Don’t worry about buying tickets in advance. In fact, don’t worry about buying tickets at all! That is because this is a 100% free event. You can come and go as you please (although you will need to bring money for any food or beverages you’ll be purchasing, in addition to any goods you’ll want to buy from local vendors).

Stay Tuned

There will be more announcements coming in the days and weeks leading up to the First Annual Folklore Sol Fest. So to make sure you receive the latest insights and the full schedule of events planned, make sure to head on over to the Folklore Sol Fest Facebook page and follow the group. This way you’ll receive updates on what is going on.

Additionally, if you’re not much of a Facebook user you can email the event at folkloreboonenc@gmail.com for any questions you might have. You can also request an updated full-day schedule through the email as well.

And, if you can, try to carpool when coming out to the event. It is a zero-waste and earth-conscious event, so ideally it will generate as little of a carbon footprint as possible.
